Ocmulgee Arts, Inc. is proud to announce that the works of celebrated landscape artist, Ann Rhodes are now available and on display in the gallery.
Ann describes her art, “Celebratory landscapes are the focus of my work. Personal response to the intensity of nature’s force informs my painting in which loose brushwork and overlapping layers of paint represent the complexity of the universe. I am fed by nature’s light and color, comforted by its underlying geometry, awed by its muscularity.”
Ann has always known she would express herself through art. At Queens College she received a BA in mathematics and painting. She continued her education at Georgia State University where she received her MA in Art History. While managing a successful art career as a painter, she has continued studies with Joe Perrin, Quida Canady, Alan Tiegreen, Sandi Grow, and Kim English. She has also taught art in colleges and universities near her home, and remained active in art organizations. The winner of numerous awards, Ann’s best award is the increasing following of her work. Clients seldom purchase just one piece. They speak of living with an Ann Rhodes painting as an experience of nature. In the words of her patrons, “ She captures movement and life in subtle ways that seem at one with nature.” and “ That Ann is truly inspired by nature is communicated in her work. Her paintings give the viewer a feeling of tranquility that lifts the spirit. Her use of vibrant color adds intensity and energy that balances the tranquility giving her work a sense of exhilaration.”
